Autoroutes de l'information et société de communication

Résumé

In this paper the author criticizes the Théry report on the development of information highways, commissioned by the French Prime Minister. François de Castel emphasizes two aspects which he feels were neglected : the constitution of banks of multimedia resources for firms and for the general public, and the definition of a legal framework concerning stored products. He sees these as a sure way of protecting European culture and expertise from powerful American and Japanese interests.
