This article presents the results of a study on excerpts from 100 blogs, carried out on Alceste, a statistical analysis software program. The specification of five figures of the public corresponding to five perspectives of publication of writings is used here for a critical reading of the traditional “public sphere” category. In so far as they constitute formats of interaction between bloggers and their readers, these figures serve to test the notion of personal identity. In such spaces configured by NICT, this notion is often confronted with readings in terms of virtualization.
