The most privileged social classes differ from others in the way they relate to information and the Internet, especially when they present their media consumption as a 'citizen' act. Yet differences also exist within these socially advantaged groups. The findings in this article show that only a minority of respondents in the upper social classes see the Internet as their main source of information. It seems that users' intense and ongoing relationship to the Internet, where information is consumed in large quantities but also commented on or shared, can be explained, to a large extent, by their social trajectory and type of profession.
