By Julie Sedel
English

This article analyzes the dual process of legitimization and representation of 'suburban residents'?, through the study of a 'participative'? news blog. Created in 2005 by Swiss journalists and taken over by a teacher and then by journalists and young people living in the suburbs (banlieue) of Paris, Bondy blog brings together professionals and amateurs in the production of news on subjects pertaining to the suburbs. This approach which calls into question journalists' usual ways of working in the suburbs, with the cooperation of a highly mobilized audience, is simultaneously an internal critique of this field of professional activity. As a space of production of discourse on the social world, it also reveals changes in the public sphere.
