As mundane as it may sound, the question of 'how to organize one's office'? has many implications. To explore its meaning, this article considers the case of two devolved state administrations in charge of granting Common Agricultural Policy subsidies to farmers. These two services have different ways of classifying, storing and circulating information. Why such a contrast? What does the comparison of their methods teach us in terms of possible approaches and problem-framing with regard to regulatory security? To answer these questions, the author adopts a pragmatic approach focused on day-to-day administrative work.
