The aim of this paper is to present the ecosystem of online games and its functioning, and to analyze the appearance of new business models and forms of intermediation in this environment. It describes the evolution of the organization of production, of the distribution of revenue, and of business models. In conclusion, it examines the way in which this sub-industry anticipates future changes in the media and entertainment industry to which it belongs.
