The Web as a Medium for a Grey Area between Ordinary Feminism and Anti-feminism

One after the other, opinion polls regularly emphasize a negative image that is now associated with a certain type of feminism. Yet these polls show that the majority of respondents still consider certain values conveyed by feminism to be important. Is this trouble in feminism visible on the Web? To answer this question, the author chose to analyse discussions between Internet users on non-militant websites. She then used that to analyse ordinary re-appropriation of feminism and anti-feminism by non-engaged citizens. She shows how much the forums observed contribute to highlighting a “grey area” of citizen re-appropriation that blurs the boundaries between feminism and anti-feminism. In this respect, Internet accentuates the trouble in feminism.
