The Economics of Magazines

Industrial economists' studies of the press industry focus essentially on the daily press. In this article we briefly consider the elements enabling us to identify the news magazine as a research object peculiar to the press industry. The main idea is to identify it in terms of the goal it seems to pursue: the promotion of goods and services offered to consumers by the companies that produce or market them. This explains why the news magazine is a preferred advertising medium.
