Regular Reading of Magazines

By Olivier Donnat
English

The spectacular development of magazine reading in the past few decades, clearly visible in the proliferation of titles, has reached the point where it is more widespread in French society than the reading of dailies. Regular readers of magazines are clearly distinguished from those the daily press: women read more magazines than men; inhabitants of the Parisian region read more than people in the provinces; university graduates read more than people without degrees; the upper and middle classes read by far the most; and, lastly, farmers and pensioners, who are the main readers of regional dailies, are at the bottom of the list.
