The Abolition of Copyright and Extension of the Public Domain

Although it is desirable for artists, in both rich and poor countries, to receive fair remuneration for their work, it seems unlikely that the copyright system can continue to protect the interests of most musicians, composers, actors, dancers, writers, designers, artists and film producers. Other means have to be found to ensure that artists are able to earn their living through creative work. This article suggests the abolition of copyright and the extension of the public domain, in the interests of artists and majority-world countries.
