WHEN WORKS BECOME WORLDS Reflection on the culture of the contemporary genre, based on the concept of cultural convergence

Connections between media are unavoidable today. They come in various forms, for instance references, the influence of media aesthetics on other media, and works adapted to different media. Henry Jenkins called this phenomenon - strongly rooted in genre works (science fiction, fantasy) and in their fans - cultural convergence. Through this concept, as well as transmedia and world inter-textuality, the author of this article explores this culture of genre, a part of mass culture. Video games, role play, series, cinema, literature, comics: all are often considered separately but should be apprehended in relation to the others as regards both their production and their reception.
