This article reports on different discourses of politically engaged Black women, at various times from the 1910s to the present. To avoid the trap (frequent when one is working on digital objects) of the “all new”, and to refrain from seeing the discourse of contemporary Black feminists as totally cut off from the past – readily considered as having no resonance today –, we chose to analyse the discursive and semiotic modalities of Black women’s expression online in light of the discourses of groups constituted in the past. In particular, we focus on the online discourse of the afro-feminist group Mwasi.
