Writings on telework are numerous and stem from diverse horizons. Yet, depending on the book or article, the concept differs. An unavoidable phenomenon in a changing professional world for some or an epiphenomenon for others, it seems that distance work through communication technologies does not always refer to the same reality. Through the analysis of writings on telework, the author identifies three different discourses, each relating to a distinct project. Each of these projects has specific goals and is often in conflict with the others. The author suggests that this plurality helps to maintain the quasi-experimental status of telework.
