Copyleft: A Worm in the Orchard of Copyright Holders

By David Geraud
English

"Copyleft" defends a new approach to intellectual property rights which is attractive owing to its opposition to a system that favours the protection of the materialization of knowledge more than the knowledge itself. It is, however, unlikely to become a model, in so far as it evades the question of authors' remuneration. Yet even if copyleft is limited to the world of research, it creates tension with its opposite: the supremacy of copyright.
