THE WEB AS A SOURCE OF STRENGTH FOR 'WEAK SPOTS'? Towards 'internetional'? small businesses

This article considers the ways in which small businesses (seen as 'weak spots'? because of their size) build up international networks of relations, and the role of the Internet in that activity. Based on exploratory research on twenty VSBs (very small businesses) and SMEs, it examines these firms' use of the Internet to make themselves visible in the global market, to see markets without being seen (virtual travelling and prospecting), and to build up business relations abroad. To conclude, the author questions the contribution of the Internet to the strengthening of 'weak spots'?.
