Latin-American Communication Groups in the Age of Convergence

This article is an in-depth analysis of the evolution of groups as key actors in the development of the culture industries in their countries. The findings of research on the changes in these groups, especially financial and managerial changes, and on their strategies and alliances as regards multimedia convergence, speak for themselves. In the first part the authors propose directions for future empirical research on the consequences of these processes, especially on creation in the areas of culture and communication, and on cultural identities. The role of Miami, with the controversies surrounding it, seems to be symbolic.
