The digital revolution has profoundly reshaped not only the architecture of networks, but also the economic activities and uses developed within these networks. It has also changed the research topics and framework for networks and networked services. This article describes this paradigm change from a theoretical and methodological point of view. It also suggests new research orientations for digital business models and ecosystems, the socio-economic impacts of digital services and public policies.
